Enhanced HD Voice Services (EVS) for VoLTE with NFV
Watch On-Demand to learn about evolving VoLTE networks with the Enhanced Voice Services (EVS) Codec using NFV-based approaches to provide significantly enhanced user experiences and network efficiencies.
VoLTE and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) are both gaining traction with many global launches and many more forecasted in the coming years. At the same time, service providers are also busy enhancing their networks with software defined infrastructures for agility, effectiveness and for introducing new or enhanced services. One of those key enhancements to the networks is the enablement of enhanced high definition voice communications services with support for the Enhanced Voice Services (EVS) codec.
Introduction of Enhanced HD Voice Services requires updates in the core and edge of service provider and interconnect networks to address media interworking and transcoding to gain the full benefits of EVS. NFV-based approaches from the telco cloud offer the ability to address this voice processing in a distributed and secure manner, at efficient scale and with elasticity. At the same time, NFV-based solutions with virtual network functions like session border controllers (SBCs) at the edge of the networks mitigate challenges such as security threats, signaling and media interoperability, and support new VoLTE roaming architectures.
